Did You Know?

The Cetane number of a diesel or biodiesel is a measure of it's ability to combust in the compression ignition process. Whereas with petrol, the octane number measures the fuels ability not to autoignite under compression, the cetane number for diesel or biodiesel measures the opposite.

To measure the Cetane Number of biodiesel involves a complicated test – to find out more about the test and the importance of the Cetane number of tallow based biodiesel click here (PDF) or Wikipedia topic.
